Session IV - July 9 - July 25

2 Weeks - Active Recovery Phase

  • 2 week phase designed to give the athletes active recovery from the previous phases of training. This time will help the athletes to maintain condition base developed but also give the body the necessary time to rebuild before going into the last phase of training.
  • Alignment imbalance corrections will be re-addressed during this phase to ensure that the athlete has a solid structure for maximizing the efficiency of the body for optimal training results going into the last and very import phase of the off-season training program.
  • Maintenance strength training will be used during this phase again to ensure that the previous work is not lost but at the same time helping the body to recover for the last training phase.

 

Focus of On-ice Sessions

  • Fundamental puck skills
  • Skating and balance work focused on loosening up the skating muscles
  • High repetition drills to ensure confidence with the puck
  • Small area and full-ice games to work on tempo and game speed

  

Focus of Total Hockey Sessions

  • High repetition puck skill drills
  • Increase vision and confidence with the puck
  • Posture and movement technique to maximize muscle memory
  • Mid-summer re-centering and focus of off-season development
